Community Impact Fund

 We all want to make a difference and know that our generosity truly has impact. In 2010, the Community Foundation took a strong leadership role in public-private collaborations to solve critical community issues. As a result of our work, we were able to help stabilize over 1,500 families on the verge of homelessness through the One Day to Prevent Homelessness project, helped to ensure the survival of respected cultural organizations through the Advancing Sacramento Arts initiative, trained the next generation of youth leaders through Grants Advisory Board for Youth (GABY), and inspired hundreds of neighbors to talk to each other through Community Conversations. GiveLocalNow Campaign Launches September 15th

"How do we increase charitable giving in our region to ensure the health of community nonprofits into the future so they can continue to do their vital work?”

GiveLocalNow is a new and innovative movement in the Sacramento Region (El Dorado, Placer, Sacramento and Yolo counties) dedicated to increasing philanthropy to local nonprofits. The movement has been created in response to quantitative and qualitative research documenting that the region's donation amounts are lower than the national average.

GiveLocalNow provides a connection between donors and area nonprofits. We encourage nonprofit leaders to learn about and engage with this campaign intended to strengthen the nonprofit sector and philanthropy in our community.

Grants Advisory Board for Youth

The Sacramento Region Community Foundation's Grants Advisory Board for Youth (GABY) held its annual youth conference on January 29, 2011. This year, the event was held at Sacramento City Hall. Mayor Kevin Johnson addressed more than 150 young people that were in attendance, encouraging them to continue their volunteerism. This year, the GABY board awarded 18 grants to youth-led projects that focused on the theme "Living Well." The projects were each unique in how they addressed the theme. Some projects focused on the importance of exercise to stay fit, while others aimed to teach younger children the value of healthy eating.

GABY is a youth grantmaking board of twenty local students, ranging in age from 15-19. Every year, the GABY board awards $500 grants to projects in the region that improve the community and are organized by youth.
