Donors can schedule gifts to organizations that need their support starting April 20
April 11, 2023
On Thursday, May 4, 760 nonprofits in the capital area will rally donors to support their favorite charitable causes during the eleventh Big Day of Giving, the annual movement to strengthen the region’s nonprofit sector that is coordinated by the Foundation and that has raised $78 million for local organizations since 2013.
“These past few years, we have seen the awe-inspiring power of nonprofits to serve local communities, create solutions, and nurture hope. On Big Day of Giving, our region will once send a message loud and clear by support local organizations: We are a community that cares about giving back and working together to forge a brighter future for all,” said Kerry Wood, our chief executive. Big Day of Giving is part of our initiative to grow philanthropic giving in El Dorado, Placer, Sacramento, and Yolo counties.
The annual giving day follows ten years of growth for the region-wide fundraiser, which reached record heights last year when donors in the Sacramento region contributed $13.4 million in 24 hours. This year’s Big Day of Giving comes at a crucial time. Local nonprofits report the populations they serve continue to experience heightened social, economic, and health-related needs, and the sector’s ability to meet those needs is challenged by economic uncertainties.
