Sutter Health awarded nearly $500,000 in scholarships this year
Sutter Health awarded college scholarships to 208 students for the 2020-2021 school year through its Van R. Johnson Sutter Scholars program, which is administered by the Sacramento Region Community Foundation.
Recipients of the scholarship attend community colleges, four-year universities, or graduate programs and received awards ranging from $1,000 to $3,000. The program’s competitive review process considered multiple factors, including academic achievement, school and community involvement, work experience, educational and career goals, and special circumstances.
Since 2002, Sutter Health has awarded 5,547 scholarships, totaling more than $9.5 million in aid for students.
For 18 years, Sutter Health has proudly supported the continuing education of tomorrow’s leaders by offering these scholarships, named in honor of former longtime Sutter Health CEO Van R. Johnson. The scholarships are available to college-age children and grandchildren of employees within the Sutter Health network.
In all, the program awarded nearly $500,000 in scholarships this year. Since 2002, Sutter Health has awarded 5,547 scholarships, totaling more than $9.5 million.
