Looking back on a record-setting day of generosity
After analyzing the quantitative and qualitative data collected from the Big Day of Giving website, donation data, and post-event surveys and focus groups, the Foundation is proud to release this annual Big Day of Giving Report to the Community. We hope it illuminates the impact of the generosity that occurred on May 2 to the donors, community partners, and nonprofit staff and volunteers who made it possible.
After each Big Day of Giving, we pore over reams of data, discovering more about the day's generosity than we could ever fit into the printed Report to the Community. We've pulled out some of the most interesting numbers we encountered when reviewing data from this year's 24 hours of local giving, which demonstrate the diversity of giving on BDOG2019. Donors in every county supported a breadth of nonprofit missions, truly demonstrating the scope of generosity in our region!
Please note that the graphs and maps below only include data from gifts made through the Big Day of Giving website.
This map displays the dollars given per capita in each zipcode in the four-county Sacramento region. While the amounts given in some areas were larger than others, donors in every county took part in the region’s giving day!
Donors gave generously to all mission categories on Big Day of Giving! Human services, arts and culture, and animal services nonprofits generated the most donations, cumulatively.
Though Big Day of Giving is the Sacramento region's giving day, donors from all over the county – and the world – gave to strengthen our community.
This year's Big Day of Giving would not have been possible without the support of our community partners, including our lead sponsor, Western Health Advantage.
Finally, be sure to mark your calendars for next year's Big Day of Giving, which will be held from midnight to midnight on Thursday, May 7, 2020! If you are a staff member or volunteer who'd like to ensure your organization is involved in next year's giving day, please sign up for the Big Day of Giving Bulletin to be alerted when eligibility and registration details are announced this fall.
