This fund is established to honor and continue to build upon the ideas and values promoted by Dr. Paul E. Heckman. His belief in the power of democratic change in schools and communities will form the foundation for the activities sponsored by the Paul E. Heckman Fund for Schools and Communities.
Resources will be used to continue to foster local change (indigenous invention) in schools and communities, which was the core focus of Dr. Heckman's work. This involves educators and community members coming together to identify challenges and resources for what Dr. Heckman described as, not just reform, but school and community transformation. Bringing together those who live and work in communities and schools to create the conditions for all to thrive and transform their worlds will be at the heart of the activities of this fund.
If you'd like to contribute to the fund with a check, please make it out to Sacramento Region Community Foundation, and indicate "Paul Heckman Memorial Fund" on the memo line.
