Our philanthropic services ensure you maximize the impact of your generosity
As a fundholder with the Foundation, you become part of a family of donors who are as diverse as their interests, yet share common bonds — a giving spirit and the desire to strengthen their community. When you establish a charitable fund at the Foundation, you can rely on us to help you make the most of your giving and ensure that the vital work of the nonprofit organizations you support continues.
Learn about opening a fund at the Foundation
Like community foundations across the country, the Sacramento Region Community Foundation enables philanthropic people to support the causes they love easily and effectively, immediately or through their will. After establishing a charitable fund at the Foundation, our donors recommend grants — in their name, if they choose — to nonprofit organizations they want to support or to students they want to help succeed. Through their generosity, our donors make a difference in the Sacramento region, and they will continue to make an impact for years to come.

Michael Geminder and Bridget Lewis established a Donor Advised Fund at the Foundation to streamline and maximize the impact of their charitable giving.
Founded by local leaders to create a pool of charitable funds to support local organizations, community foundations are independent, tax-exempt public charities. The first community foundation was established in Cleveland in 1914, and now there are over 1,800 local community foundations across the globe. By giving through the Sacramento Region Community Foundation, you are joining a worldwide network of like-minded people who want to create positive change in their communities.
The Sacramento Region Community Foundation is accredited with National Standards for U.S. Community Foundations, indicating we meet the highest standards for philanthropic excellence.
We work to support the causes our community cares about, from supporting the arts and cultivating gardens to curing illness, expanding literacy, and feeding children. National Standards certification is not mandatory for community foundations like ours, but we chose to go above and beyond by affirming our commitment to excellence and accountability. Our National Standards certification says that we meet the most rigorous standards in philanthropy; it is a promise to our community that we’ll continue to do this good work together, right here in the Sacramento region.
In addition, we are proud to be guided by and uphold the provisions of the Donor Bill of Rights and our Service Credo.
