The Jerome and Wanda Hart Fund

A Legacy of Giving

Jerry and Wanda Hart opened TheJerome and Wanda Hart Fund at the Sacramento Region Community Foundation in 1986, and a legacy of generosity was begun. The couple made regular gifts into the fund and gave to a wide range of causes, using their fund as a charitable checking account. Through the years, countless organizations benefited from the Harts’ giving both through their fund at the Foundation and through direct gifts.

The Harts insured that their charitable legacy would continue in perpetuity by including a distribution to The Jerome and Wanda Hart Fund in their trust and turning it into an endowment. Through the trust, the Harts left instructions to guide their chosen fund advisors to select charitable causes that match their interests. The advisors (family members, friends and a Foundation representative) meet annually to determine grants for the year according to the Harts’ wishes. In 2009, the Jerome H. Hart & Wanda S. Hart Fund made generous gifts to the Northern California Parkinson Association, WIND Youth Services, the Salvation Army capital campaign and the Children’s Receiving Home—organizations that represent causes that were important to the Harts and reflect the scope of their charitable interests.

Even though Jerry and Wanda are no longer here, their foresight in planning their charitable legacy will guide their generous intentions for many years to come, and will continue their generosity through their children. The Foundation is honored to help carry on Jerry and Wanda’s wishes.
