Big Day of Giving

Our region's 24-hour giving challenge and year-long capacity building program for local nonprofits

Big Day of Giving (BDOG) is a 24-hour giving challenge that brings our community together to support the nonprofits that serve the Sacramento region. The nonprofits that participate raise much-needed unrestricted funds during Big Day of Giving and their staff and volunteers benefit from year-round opportunities to connect with their peers and strengthen essential fundraising, storytelling, and board development skills.

In 2023, Big Day of Giving raised a record $13.8 million for participating nonprofits, and over $91 million has been raised since the Foundation's first giving day in 2013. Additionally, the more than 770 local nonprofits that have participated in Big Day of Giving have advanced their marketing, board engagement, and donor development capabilities through the program's training component. Even more, together, we have built a cooperative, collaborative community of nonprofits in the Sacramento region.
