The Sacramento region’s online nonprofit resource
GivingEdge is a powerful, year-round community resource for information on local nonprofits. This online knowledge source and giving portal is designed to help donors learn more about the nonprofits that serve our region, discover new organizations that match their interests, and give "smarter" to local causes during giving days and all year long.

GivingEdge makes local giving more effective. Its searchable database is a platform for nonprofits to create portraits that include information on their programs, governance, financial management, community impact, and much more. That's why it is "the backbone" of Big Day of Giving, the region's annual giving day.
Our community’s nonprofit sector is strongest when it is marked by equity and inclusion at all levels. After all, as stewards of the public good, nonprofits in the capital area play an important role in upholding the democratic ideals we all value.
In addition to helping area donors "give smarter" to local nonprofits, we use data from GivingEdge to better understand the capital region's nonprofit sector and help move it forward.
For example, take the racial and ethnic makeup of governance boards, which are the highest decision-making bodies at nonprofits. Of the thousands of nonprofit board members serving the Sacramento region listed in GivingEdge, a disproportionately small number are non-white, and that underrepresentation is worse in some nonprofit service categories more than others. Because nonprofit board members play critical roles in ensuring organizations support equity and inclusion in our community, their boards should aim to mirror our region and the breadth of its diversity — racial and ethnic diversity, and other forms of diversity such as gender, socioeconomic background, and professional expertise.
Just as GivingEdge helps donors in our region "give smarter," it informs our work to strengthen the nonprofit sector — leading us to implement programs like Cultivate, an effort to support nonprofit leaders of color in their fundraising endeavors — which strengthens the entire Sacramento region, too.
By focusing on the root causes of local challenges, seeking solutions with long-term results, and supporting the organizations that tend to the vital needs of the capital area, we help create the conditions for meaningful transformation in the Sacramento region.
