Capacity Building Micro Grants

Evolving our grantmaking to better support nonprofits

We believe that strong nonprofits make vital contributions to transforming communities like ours, and we know that nonprofit leaders need skills, tools, and resources to respond to their communities' needs—and their organizations' needs—quickly, efficiently, and effectively.

MEETING IMMEDIATE CAPACITY BUILDING NEEDS

Launched in 2015, our Immediate Need Grants responded quickly to the pressing needs of the Sacramento region. Following internal and external assessments we conducted in 2017, we have revised the program's grant criteria to magnify one of its three focus areas: capacity building.

A capacity building grant to the Sacramento LGBT Community Center installed an expandable IT system and client database to better support the agency's ongoing programs and services.

Our Capacity Building Micro Grant program swiftly supports organizations pursuing capacity-related projects that will greatly impact their ability to serve the community. This iteration of the funding opportunity maintains the spirit of the Immediate Need Grants program and reinforces its alignment with our mission to transform our community through focused leadership and advocacy that inspire partnerships and expand giving.
