Director of Community Impact

Monica Haulman

She/Her

As Director of Community Impact, Monica leads the Sacramento Region Community Foundation’s learning and evaluation efforts and supports its impact programs and nonprofit capacity-building initiatives. Her ongoing work is informed by significant educational and professional experience related to public health and community development.

Since joining the Foundation in 2018, Monica has led Big Day of Giving, the dual 24-hour fundraising event and year-round capacity-building program that annually engages hundreds of area nonprofits to connect, collaborate, and raise much-needed funding for their missions. In this role, she has also spearheaded state- and nation-wide collaboratives of giving day leaders, increasing the efficacy of similar events serving communities beyond the Sacramento region.

Prior to joining the Foundation, Monica worked in international human rights with Article 3 Advisors, Amnesty International, and the Human Rights Center at UC Berkeley Law. At the last, she managed the Human Rights Investigations Lab, the first university-based open-source investigations lab to discover and verify human rights violations and potential war crimes.

Monica is a proud “double Bear,” with both a Master’s of Public Health and a Bachelor’s of Political Science from University of California, Berkeley. (“Go Bears!”)

She is a past Board President of Stanford Settlement Neighborhood Center.

Originally from Nevada City, California, Monica enjoys hiking, planting and cultivating California’s diverse and beautiful native plants, and paddleboarding. She can also knit a mean pair of cozy socks.
