We are delighted to welcome Dr. Janine Bera, Chief Medical Officer of WellSpace Health, to the Sacramento Region Community Foundation’s Board of Directors, where her expertise will enhance our efforts to empower local people to achieve their philanthropic goals and cultivate impactful partnerships that drive meaningful change.
As the Chief Medical Officer of WellSpace Health, Dr. Bera oversees a comprehensive network of medical, dental, behavioral health, and supportive services that reach more than 125,000 individuals annually at 31 locations across Sacramento and Placer counties. Her leadership has been instrumental in providing critical care to some of our community’s most underserved residents, including those experiencing poverty, homelessness, or lack of insurance.
A graduate of UC Davis Medical School and its Internal Medicine Primary Care Residency program, Dr. Bera has been widely recognized for her professional and community contributions, including being named an Unsung Hero by the California State Assembly, one of Sacramento Magazine’s 100 Notable Business Leaders, and a Woman Who Means Business by the Sacramento Business Journal.
In addition to her professional accomplishments, Dr. Bera is a dedicated community leader. She serves on several boards, including the Sierra Sacramento Valley Medical Society, Crocker Art Museum, and Wide Open Walls, and co-chairs Accreditation & Quality for the Planned Parenthood Federation of America. Her past presidencies at the Sacramento Tree Foundation and the American Heart Association, Sacramento, further highlight her commitment to creating opportunities for all.
