Impact

Creating a Sacramento region where everyone flourishes requires united, sustained action. Together with our neighbors, we make philanthropic investments that fortify the local nonprofit sector and champion bold solutions to some of our community’s most pressing needs.

Big Day of Giving

Unleashing Generosity
Rallying local people to support their favorite causes on GivingEdge — our database of more than 850 local organizations — and providing year-round opportunities for nonprofits.

Cultivate

Nourishing Leaders
Cultivate fosters connection and collaboration among nonprofit leaders of color, addressing fundraising gaps that impact them, their organizations, and the communities they serve.

A Healthier Future

Food Access in Yolo County

Investing in urgent relief and long-term strategies to make food more accessible and sustainably distributed.

Education in Del Paso Heights

Supporting young people and their families by expanding access to quality education — and strengthening resources to help them thrive.

Shaped by research and community voice, the Sacramento Region Community Foundation’s focus on health equity centers neighborhoods that have faced generations of underinvestment in Sacramento and Yolo counties. Here’s how that focus came to life.

A Strong Foundation

With decades of grantmaking and scholarship support behind us, and millions of dollars invested across the region, the Foundation’s volunteer board of community leaders invited the community to imagine what bold philanthropic efforts could look like next.

Naming Health Equity as a Priority

RImg-1
Guided by community voices, we named health equity as a priority because everyone deserves a fair chance at good health and well-being. Yet in our region, access to nutritious food, mental health support, and opportunity is not equal, and those gaps affect us all.

From Insight to Action

Together with those closest to these challenges, we invest in solutions that bring partners together. Strengthening food access in Yolo County and expanding culturally responsive mental health and educational support for youth in Del Paso Heights are part of a shared commitment to a healthier region.

How are your initiatives determined?

Our work is guided by a Strategic Roadmap, developed in 2022, that charges us to grow the philanthropic resources available to the Sacramento region, enhance our leadership activities, and ensure all our efforts are rooted in — and advance — diversity, equity, and inclusion. Our investments are informed by significant research and the voices of those closest to community needs.
