Peter and Catherine Lampman’s grandchildren, Spencer and Haley
Christine Street, a Sacramento area property manager, wandered by Sacramento Region Community Foundation during her lunch in early 2024 after hearing about it from an attorney at Boutin Jones. During her visit, Foundation staff told her about the different types of charitable funds available to donors. A few weeks later, Christine came back—this time, to open a Donor Advised Fund.
But the Foundation was not Christine’s first brush with philanthropy. Her parents, Peter and Catherine Lampman, made charitable gifts to various organizations for decades. The example they set for her inspired Christine to continue giving and pass on the spirit of philanthropy to her kids.
“I wanted to create a lasting legacy for my parents, so I opened the fund in their memory,” Christine shared. “I want their example to continue through to their grandchildren.”
To ensure her parents’ legacy of generosity could span generations, Christine set up the fund with an initial gift and named her two children, Spencer and Haley, as fund advisors, who now select the causes that mean the most to them. With Christine and her children at the helm, the Peter and Catherine Lampman Foundation supports organizations like the Sacramento Rugby Club and the Eating Recovery Center.
Christine believes that giving is contagious; if her family can inspire one additional person, family, or group to start a practice of giving, that could change lives. “It makes me feel like I’m being part of a solution,” she said. “My hope is that my gift can help people in need feel like someone out there cares.”
