Local Nonprofits Raise $13.2 Million During Big Day of Giving

Donations surpass $100 million for nonprofits since the Foundation launched the giving day in 2013.

During this year’s Big Day of Giving, more than 800 nonprofits in the Sacramento region raised $13.2 million, bringing the total generated since the inception our region’s annual giving day in 2013 to over $100 million.*

Over 27,000 donors made more than 58,000 gifts to support local causes.

“Our neighbors throughout the Sacramento region rallied around the causes that do so much good right here in our community during this year’s Big Day of Giving,” said Kerry Wood, our chief executive. We have organized the day-long giving challenge since research indicated philanthropic giving in the Sacramento region lagged national averages. “They demonstrated that generosity runs deep in the Sacramento region — now and since our first giving day twelve years ago. More than $100 million dollars later, it remains true that every single dollar given is a boost to this community and supports the vital work of local nonprofits!”

In all, 826 nonprofits throughout El Dorado, Placer, Sacramento, and Yolo counties generated $13,230,760 during Big Day of GIving. The amount each participating nonprofit raised is available to view on GivingEdge, the Big Day of Giving website.

We organize Big Day of Giving with lead sponsorship from Western Health Advantage and the generosity of our other community partners.
