Sacramento Valley Veterinary Medical Association Charitable Fund

The Sacramento Valley Veterinary Medical Association (SVVMA) Charitable Fund supports programs operated by small nonprofits, veterinarians, and veterinary students to improve the welfare of domestic and wild animals as important links to culture and ecology.

Grant Criteria & Application

The SVVMA Charitable Fund will support programs operated locally by 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations whose focus is to improve the welfare of both domestic and wild animals. Grant requests must be detailed with an explanation of how much money is being requested and the specific purpose(s) for which the award will be used. Awards will run from $500 to $1,500. Funding is for projects that take place during the 2025-2026 year.

The SVVMA Fund will accept grant applications of up to $1,500 for:

  • Materials and supplies, examples include:
    • Pet food
    • Pet Supplies
    • Farriers
    • Animal welfare supplies (blankets, litter, formula)
    • Wildlife food and supplies
  • Equipment, examples include:
    • Incubator
    • Crates, cages, traps, etc.
  • Education and outreach, examples include:
    • Programs that promote the human-animal bond

The SVVMA Fund will not accept grant applications for:

  • Salaries for organizations
  • Annual fund campaigns, fundraising events
  • Capital campaigns
  • Gifts to endowments
  • Deficit funding
  • Direct assistance to individuals
  • Conferences
  • Political advocacy
  • Legislative policy efforts or to promote particular religious and/or spiritual beliefs
  • Prescription medications
  • Veterinary services
  • Surgical supplies
  • Vaccines
