Earlier this week, we opened registration for local nonprofits to participate in next year’s Big Day of Giving, the Sacramento region’s day-long giving challenge, which takes place on May 2, 2024.
We have organized Big Day of Giving annually since 2013 as part of our initiative to grow philanthropic giving in El Dorado, Placer, Sacramento, and Yolo counties. On Big Day of Giving, donors raise unrestricted funds for the organizations that keep the local community healthy, vibrant, and strong. During this past year for Big Day of Giving 2023, 762 nonprofits in the region raised $13.8 million in 24 hours. In total, the giving days have generated more than $91 million for local organizations since its inception in 2013. This year, we hope to bring even more local nonprofits into the fold.
“Every year, Big Day of Giving provides much-needed support to the local nonprofits doing crucial work in our communities,” said Kerry Wood, our chief executive. “And this year, we’re thrilled to announce that we’ve made changes to involve newer and smaller nonprofits.”
Participating provides more than just a well-equipped platform for nonprofits to raise unrestricted funds. In the months leading up to Big Day of Giving, we also offer networking opportunities, a Mentor program consisting of experienced fundraisers and nonprofit leaders volunteering their time to assist newer participating organizations, and a robust training program to help build participating nonprofits’ capacity in areas such as donor engagement, board development, collaboration, marketing outreach, and storytelling.
Big Day of Giving is powered by the region’s online nonprofit resource, GivingEdge, and is made possible with generous support from lead sponsor Western Health Advantage and additional community partners. Additionally, nonprofits and their supporters in the Sacramento region should mark their calendars for next year’s Big Day of Giving on Thursday, May 2, 2024.
