We recently awarded grants to eight local nonprofits from the Neighborhood Fund, a charitable fund created at the Foundation in 2021 by an area resident to support organizations that serve Sacramento’s Del Paso Heights and Old North Sacramento neighborhoods — neighborhoods that are marked by abundant assets but where decades of underinvestment have left many without equitable opportunities to flourish.
The awardees are Del Paso Heights Growers’ Alliance; Feed Sacramento Homeless; First Steps Communities; Hmong Youth & Parents United; Mercy Holistic Ministries; SAC Connect; Sacramento Children’s Museum; and Sierra Nevada Journeys.

The grants from the Neighborhood Fund supplement four we recently administered from the Golden 1 Credit Union Stronger Together Fund, which also benefit nonprofits providing critical services in Del Paso Heights. The recipients were Greater Sacramento Urban League, Mutual Assistance Network, Neighborhood Wellness Foundation, and Roberts Family Development Center.
In all, we processed nearly $1,200,000 to nonprofits serving this neighborhood within the past two weeks.
“It’s inspiring to work with visionary philanthropists and generous organizations to make positive change where the need is greatest in our region,” said Kerry Wood, our chief executive. “While we are known for operating Big Day of Giving in the spring, it’s important for our community to know the Foundation works with fundholders to support hundreds of nonprofit organizations in our four-county region year-round.”
We are grateful to the Foundation fundholders, local businesses, and generous regional partners who made these grants possible. If you’d like to support organizations serving the Del Paso Heights neighborhood, we invite you to make a gift to the Neighborhood Fund.
