How do I access information about my Nonprofit Fund?

Your Nonprofit Fund’s fund advisors can log in to the Donor Portal to view fund activity, view balances and quarterly statements, make grant requests (as applicable), and update their contact details, including address and phone number. Visit the Donor Portal User Guide for instructions.

What assets can be given to my Nonprofit Fund?

We accept a variety of assets and have in-house expertise to process complex gifts, in collaboration with you, your supporters, and your financial advisors. Your Nonprofit Fund can also receive planned gifts. See Ways to Give.

How should we report our Nonprofit Fund on our financial statements?

We often recommend organizations show a beneficial interest in the assets the Foundation holds for your Nonprofit Fund, typically listed as a permanently restricted net asset or net assets with donor restrictions. In most cases, you’ll report only your organization’s contributions to the fund. Because each organization is unique, please consult your auditor or financial advisor for guidance specific to your agency’s situation.

Can I fundraise for my Nonprofit Fund?

Yes. Your Nonprofit Fund has a donation page maintained by the Sacramento Region Community Foundation to accept credit card gifts. For additional assets we accept to grow your Nonprofit Fund, see Ways to Give. Use the form on this page for customized language you can incorporate into your communications to encourage support for your Nonprofit Fund. Please also review the Sacramento Region Community Foundation’s Fund Promotion Policy.

What's the difference between endowed and expendable funds?

Nonprofit endowment funds are for nonprofits that want to protect long-term assets while receiving annual distributions to support their mission. The fund is invested in our endowment portfolio to provide long-term sustainability.

Nonprofit expendable funds are for nonprofits that want to protect medium- to long-term assets. Distributions back to your organization may be requested as needed, providing you with maximum flexibility. The fund is invested in one of our expendable portfolios to generate long-term growth.

How do I make a grant from my Nonprofit Fund?

Fund advisors associated with your Nonprofit Fund who have grantmaking privileges can direct grants from it at any time by logging in to the Donor Portal or completing a Grant Recommendation Form.

What are the investment options for my Nonprofit Fund?

You can invest your Nonprofit Fund in our professionally managed investment pools, designed to fit your time horizon and giving goals. See Investment Portfolios.

What is the fee for administering my Nonprofit Fund?

Our competitive support fees offset the cost of fund administration and are also reinvested in the Sacramento region through our grantmaking and programs — attending to critical regional issues and improving local lives. Our support fees vary based on fund type and, in some cases, on the size of the fund. See our fee schedule.
