Foundation And Local Nonprofits Ready For Big Day Of Giving

Over 820 local nonprofits will rally the Sacramento region to give on Thursday, May 2.

On Thursday, May 2, hundreds of nonprofits in the capital area will rally generous people to support charitable causes during this year’s Big Day of Giving, the Sacramento Region Community Foundation’s annual movement to strengthen the local nonprofit sector that has raised $91 million since 2013. This year, we hope to surpass $100 million in total funds raised since the giving day’s inception.

Over 820 nonprofits serving El Dorado, Placer, Sacramento, and Yolo counties are participating in this year’s effort. Each has a profile at bigdayofgiving.org, which features the ability to search and filter nonprofits by mission, location, budget size, whether they’re BIPOC-led, and demographics served.

Starting April 18, donors can discover and donate to nonprofits directly on the Big Day of Giving website. The minimum donation is $10, and donors can give through 11:59 p.m. on May 2.

Gifts made on the Big Day of Giving website have the chance to be boosted by up to $100,000 in prizes furnished by Western Health Advantage, and match funds secured by participating nonprofits. In addition, donors who give with Golden 1 Credit Union debit or credit cards will have their donations boosted by a $100,000 proportional match from Golden 1 Credit Union.

The Foundation makes Big Day of Giving possible with lead sponsorship from Western Health Advantage. In addition to running Big Day of Giving, the Foundation provides solutions to help community members make philanthropic impact immediately or through their estates. Learn more at sacregcf.org.
