It’s an honor and a thrill to share that the Sacramento Region Community Foundation received the largest amount of gifts in its 40-year history last year. Investment in local philanthropy makes a real difference — and your gifts, grants, scholarships, and legacy commitments are fostering a more just and vibrant region.
That’s not the only number worth celebrating. I’m pleased to report that, over the past four decades, the Foundation has distributed more than $250 million in grants and scholarships, largely directed by our fundholders. Thank you for your generosity!
To those of you who have charitable funds with the Foundation, thank you for investing in charitable giving and encouraging us every day in our work to inspire philanthropy. (We highlighted a few of you in this issue.) Similarly, I am grateful to those who’ve take time to share insights with us over the past year. We’re using feedback from you and others to shape our next community initiatives and I look forward to updating you about the outcomes soon.
We certainly have much to look forward to in the coming year, and there are many ways you can get involved. First, please mark your calendar for Big Day of Giving on Thursday, May 2, and rally behind local nonprofits to help them achieve another major milestone: $100 million raised through this community-driven effort since 2013! In addition, please consider referring a friend, family, or business to set up a charitable fund; let your favorite nonprofit know to review the annual grantmaking calendar; and join us in celebrating that the Sacramento region is made up of people, like you, who care. Again, thank you!
