Local Donors Award $22.2M in 2025

In 2025, local generosity resulted in $22.2 million awarded to support nonprofits and students.

In 2025, generosity across our region translated into meaningful action. Local donors awarded $22.2 million through the Sacramento Region Community Foundation and our partner, Yolo Community Foundation, supporting nonprofits, students, and community-serving organizations at a time of growing need.

More than three-quarters of those dollars — $17.1 million — stayed right here in the Sacramento region, funding local nonprofits and scholarships for students attending area schools. This strong local commitment reflects area donors’ connection to place and their belief that investing close to home strengthens the entire community.

Grantmaking increased significantly in Youth Development and Food, Agriculture, and Nutrition, aligned with focused investments to improve food security in Yolo County and educational outcomes for young people in Sacramento’s Del Paso Heights. These increases also reflect philanthropists responding in real time to emerging challenges, including emergency needs tied to instability in SNAP funding.

Most grants were awarded through customized charitable funds established by local individuals, families, and businesses. Grantmaking also included a portion of donations made during a record-breaking Big Day of Giving, the region’s annual giving event, which returns on Thursday, May 7.
