Funding Helps Four Nonprofits, Their Way

Flexible funding helps four nonprofits strengthen the work they do for youth and families.

As someone who works closely with organizations in Del Paso Heights, I’m continually inspired by the way nonprofits show up for their neighbors with care, consistency, and a deep understanding of the community they serve. These are organizations that know their neighborhoods, listen closely, and respond in ways that are real and rooted.

Through the Sacramento Region Community Foundation’s role in the Resilience, Capacity Building, and Community Engagement Grant Program of the League of California Community Foundations, four trusted organizations received support to strengthen the work they are already doing, guided by what their communities need most.

Mutual Assistance Network, Neighborhood Wellness Foundation, Roberts Family Development Center, and Stanford Settlement Neighborhood Center each received more than $10,000 through the grant. Each organization has a long history in Del Paso Heights and has earned the trust of the people they serve in a neighborhood that is rich in leadership, care, and resilience despite historic disinvestment. This support fits alongside the Foundation’s broader efforts in Del Paso Heights to strengthen education and mental wellness for youth — work made possible through generous gifts to our Impact Fund.

Instead of telling each organization how to use the funding, each nonprofit decided what would be most helpful right now. That flexibility matters, because what it takes to build strength and sustainability looks different for every organization.

For Mutual Assistance Network, that flexibility meant investing in staff and leadership development, including learning opportunities with trauma-informed facilitators, supporting the people who show up every day for their community. Neighborhood Wellness Foundation is focusing on building staff confidence, communication, and financial understanding, strengthening the organization from the inside out.

Roberts Family Development Center is using the funding to help purchase a data and case management system that will make it easier to track services for individuals and families over time, reducing administrative burden and supporting long-term planning. Stanford Settlement Neighborhood Center is dedicating its support to staff time that strengthens Teen Center programming, helping ensure young people continue to have safe, welcoming spaces to learn and grow.

These organizations know what their communities need — and they are leading the way. I’m grateful the Foundation, our partners and donors, are walking alongside them, supporting their vision, and helping ensure they have what they need to keep making a lasting difference in Del Paso Heights.
