Nonprofits raise $15.4 million during Big Day of Giving

Thousands of donors across the region offered record-breaking support for local nonprofits

During yesterday’s Big Day of Giving, 886 nonprofits in the Sacramento region raised $15.4 million, bringing the total generated since this annual giving day launched in 2013 to more than $132 million and exceeding last year’s total of $13.8 million.

In all, more than 29,000 donors made 62,000 gifts to support local nonprofits.

“Our region showed up with heart,” said Kerry Wood, chief executive of the Sacramento Region Community Foundation, which has organized Big Day of Giving since its launch. “Giving is a way of saying you care — about your neighbors, your community, and the future you want to see. Yesterday, thousands of people across our region did exactly that, and we’re grateful.”

In all, nonprofits throughout El Dorado, Placer, Sacramento, and Yolo counties generated $15,430,725 on May 7. The amount each nonprofit raised is available on the Big Day of Giving website.

Big Day of Giving was made possible with lead sponsorship from Western Health Advantage, along with other generous partners.
