Partnership Strengthens Nonprofits Addressing Homelessness and Hunger

A new partnership will support 10 nonprofits focusing on homelessness and food access with training, peer learning, and grant funding.

Nonprofits play a vital role in addressing Sacramento County’s most pressing challenges, including homelessness and food access. While their direct services are essential, the systems that support their work — leadership, financial planning, and organizational structure — are just as important to sustaining and expanding their impact.

To support this work, the Sacramento Region Community Foundation, in partnership with the County of Sacramento, is launching the Sacramento Countywide Nonprofit Partnership Initiative.

This 20-month program will support mid-sized nonprofits serving Sacramento County residents experiencing housing insecurity/instability or food insecurity. The initiative is designed to help 10 organizations strengthen their internal operations so they can grow their programs and serve more people effectively over time.

Participating nonprofits will receive practical training and workshops, one-on-one technical assistance, opportunities to learn alongside peer organizations, and grant funding to support organizational improvements. Together, these resources will help nonprofits build stronger foundations for their work and expand their impact for Sacramento County residents.

Nonprofits interested in participating in the Sacramento Countywide Nonprofit Partnership Initiative are encouraged to learn more and apply by Wednesday, April 8.

This partnership builds on the Sacramento Region Community Foundation’s more than 40 years of supporting the nonprofits that serve the capital area. Alongside connecting donors with causes they care about, the Foundation invests in helping nonprofits grow stronger and more sustainable, including through capacity-building efforts like Big Day of Giving that bring nonprofit teams together to learn, collaborate, and expand their impact in the community.
